Cost of College in Delaware 2023

Delaware offers a great opportunity to students looking to further their education. It has a wide range of universities and colleges and can provide an affordable option for those seeking higher education. To help reduce the costs of tuition, there are also several scholarship and grant programs available.

Attending college and university in the U.S. is always going to come with a hefty tuition cost – especially as general living costs increase. College tuition has been increasing for a number of years in pretty much every state. Delaware is somewhere in the middle – it’s not the most expensive state to go to college but it isn’t the most affordable either. The average cost of tuition in Delaware for in-state students was around $11,343 for the 2020–21 academic year. This is above the national average which was $9,375. But it’s still not the most expensive state to attend college.

For example, the University of Delaware offers an annual tuition rate of just under $13,000 for in-state students, which is significantly lower than in many other states. Delaware State University is another great option for those looking for a quality education at an affordable price; its annual tuition rate is just over $10,000. Other public universities in Delaware also provide low tuition rates, including Wilmington University and Delaware Technical Community College.

Top Delaware colleges

There are only a few colleges and universities in Delaware – it is the second smallest state after all. There are only six colleges and universities in the state but that doesn’t mean they aren’t highly ranked in the nation.

The University of Delaware is located in the city of Newark. It’s the largest university in the state and is also one of the oldest universities in the country — it was founded in 1743. U.S. News & World Report has ranked it among the top 100 national universities for several years. UD has seven colleges and schools that offer about 150 degree programs across, including arts and sciences; business and economics; engineering; health sciences; law; marine studies; and urban affairs and public policy. The school also has an impressive alumni network that includes five Nobel Prize winners, three Pulitzer Prize winners, two Academy Award recipients, four National Medal of Science recipients, numerous heads of state or government officials from around the world, and many more successful professionals from various fields.

Wilmington University is a much newer institution – it was founded in 1968 as Wilmington College in the city of Wilmington. There are six colleges that offer more than 100 degree and certificate programs. With a student body of over 20,000 students from 35 states and 40 countries worldwide, Wilmington University provides an inclusive learning environment for all its students.
