The scholarship is sponsored by Vegetarian Resource Group (VRG), a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching the public about vegetarianism and veganism and the issues of health, nutrition, ecology, ethics, and world hunger intertwined.

The scholarship awards $10,000 to the overall winner, and two runners-up get $5,000 each.

After enrollment, the scholarship prize is awarded to the recipient’s college within the U.S.
