The goal of the Kansas Career Technical Workforce Grant is to motivate people to pursue higher education while also benefiting the State of Kansas through their employment. This will help the state build a strong workforce in professions with high demand, such as those in essential industries.
The value of the stipend is $1,000 per year for full-time students (12 or more hours; $500 per semester), $800 per year for students who study for 7 to 11 hours, and $500 per year for those who study for fewer than six hours. Students, who live in Kansas and have completed a high school program accredited by the Kansas State Board of Education, are eligible for grants.
Technical colleges, community colleges, public four-year universities that give associate’s degrees in applied sciences, Washburn Institute of Technology, and other institutions have been approved as Kansas educational institutions where grant recipients may attend classes. The only programs that qualify are technical certificate and associate of applied science degree programs. The program’s funding is dependent on the Kansas Legislature’s allocated resources being available.
