The Bowling Green State University (BGSU) created the Incoming Freshman Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition Scholarship for talented and creative high school graduating seniors in Ohio. Candidates are among the top 300, whose creations will be displayed at the Ohio Governor’s Art Exhibition.
The scholarship awards from $1,000 to $2,000 to deserving eight or 10 students. The Incoming Freshman Talent Award is dedicated to the highest-ranking recipient of the exhibition. The Bowling Green State University’s (BGSU) School of Art also grants the recipient free tuition for the first year.
Applicants must submit a portfolio of 10 art pieces and must plan to enroll in the School of Arts at BGSU. The school also offers a further $2,000 disbursed in their freshman year to help with tuition fees. Submitted artwork can be collective teamwork and applicants must name all artists involved.

Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition
Founded in 1970, the exhibition is a non-profit that helps develop and spotlight the educational and artistic talents of young people in Ohio. It gives young artists a platform to advance their talent.
2021 Art Exhibition
In 2021, due to the pandemic, the exhibition was held virtually with over 6,000 regional entries from over 2,000 students, of which 1030 made it to the state level.
