The main purpose of the scholarship is to ensure that selected Daniels Scholars go through college with ease and have an opportunity to pursue their passions after college. Every year, over 200 scholars are selected from the states of Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and New Mexico. Daniels Scholars have been admitted to more than 400 colleges and universities in the United States.

Recipients of the scholarship should be graduating high school students who wish to attend any nonprofit, accredited two-year, or four-year college or university in the United States. Scholars must aim to complete a bachelor’s degree, and those who begin at a two-year institution must be on track to do so. Technical and vocational schools, as well as certificate programs, are not eligible for Daniels Scholarships.

The scholarship offers a four-year college scholarship program that is customized to each awardee and based on their Expected Family Contribution (EFC), the institutions they are enrolled in, and their degree courses. After taking into account the student’s EFC, earnings assessment, other scholarships, and financial aid, the scholarship pays up to $25,000 per year toward the student’s unmet needs. Scholars receive other additional benefits, such as being awarded a laptop as part of their scholarship award.
