WTS Foundation provides numerous scholarships that seek to empower women who are interested or are already a part of the transportation sector. Annually, the WTS Portland Chapter awards its WTS Portland Chapter Gail Achterman Leadership Scholarship of $7,000 to a deserving female student.

Applicants must be pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in transportation at an institution in Oregon or counties in SW Washington, including Cowlitz, Clark, Lewis, Pacific, Skamania, and Wahkiakum. Eligible fields of study include transportation engineering, planning, finance, communications, operations, or logistics.

The scholarship committee will assess applicants’ academic records, job skills, and specific involvement in the transportation sector through jobs or activities. Additionally, applicants should demonstrate plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field. First-generation college students and students of color are encouraged to apply.
