Annually, the Rhode Island Foundation presents the Willard and Marjorie Scheibe Nursing Scholarship to one individual for up to $5,000. Applicants must be studying to become a Licenced Practiced Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), or an advanced nursing degree. The scholarship aims to support an individual who needs financial assistance through their studies.

Applicants are expected to complete the application sheet and a set of questions provided by the RI Foundation. Applicants must be a resident of Rhode Island and dedicate themselves to building the Rhode Island community after graduation. All submissions must include an essay of fewer than 300 words that outlines the applicant’s career goals and how they relate to practicing nursing in Rhode Island.

Applications must provide evidence of financial need by submitting the Financial Information Worksheet provided by the RI Foundation and a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A letter of acceptance must be included in all applications and the most recent academic transcript. Previous recipients of the award can apply for a renewal of the award and past applicants can also reapply.
