To honor Truman Picard the Intertribal Timber Council established the Truman D. Picard Scholarship Program. The scholarship is open to students who are identified as tribal members of the United States interested in pursuing studies in natural resources.

The Truman D. Picard Scholarship Program has awarded more than $1 million to more than 500 students since 1988. The selection criteria are based on academic discipline focusing on natural resources, and a commitment to education, community, and your culture. A total of three scholarships are awarded up to $2,500 to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students each.

The scholarship program focuses on outstanding students interested in pursuing a career in any area of natural resources. Truman D. Picard Scholarship applicants must prove their membership to any United States federally recognized tribe.
