The Pursuing Academics with Support scholarship, also known as PAWS, is a subvention program sponsored by Mars Petcare Inc. This institution ​​offers nutrition and veterinary products and services to improve the quality of life of pets. But beyond that, Mars Petcare is interested in making the world a better place through different projects.

For this reason, and in association with the UNFC, the PAWS scholarship has been founded. The grant aims to finance the tuition of students who are currently enrolled in a college career related to fields such as mathematics, sciences, technology, and engineering. It is an annual $10,000 award given to five Black/African American students each, who demonstrate financial need.

Additionally, this scholarship is offered only to citizens or permanent residents of the United States. For this reason, the scholarship is an incentive to enhance the quality of education in the country. It is also motivational aid for Black/African American students to compete academically on a global level.
