New England Employee Benefits Council
The New England Employee Benefits Council (NEEBC) created the NEEBC Scholarship Program to support the council’s aims of advancing the education and knowledge of individuals in the employee benefits field. Since the program’s inception in 1990, NEEBC has spent over $200,000 on scholarships.
Each year, NEEBC Scholarship Program awards up to $5,000 to undergraduate and graduate students who pursue a degree in human resources, employee benefits, and/or total rewards, all of which may encompass compensation/underwriting/consulting/ retirement planning/ through their course of study and/or work experience.
Applicants must demonstrate their interest in human resources or its related fields, and provide recommendation letters, essays, grade transcripts, and résumé. The committee decides on the most applicable candidates and announces the winners in spring.

Do not exceed the essay word count
The word limit of your essay is 500 words, endeavor not to exceed this specification as it may result in your disqualification.
Submit two reference letters
It is expected that you submit two references to back your application. These references can be from college professors, NEEBC members, or other benefits professionals.
Submit all college transcripts
Submit all your official or unofficial college transcript so your academic background (GPA) can be fully assessed.
Demonstrate interest in employee benefits career
Demonstrate an interest in a career in human resources, employee benefits, and/or total rewards field through either course of study or work experience.
How the NEEBC Scholarship Program is Judged
Applications are evaluated on the application and corresponding essay, resume, the student’s college GPA, and two references. The scholarship award will be based on demonstrated educational performance and benefit the career aspirations and goals of applicants. Other criteria include school and community activities, work experience, and future potential.

The scholarship awards can be renewed annually, upon submission of supporting documentation, for the amount of time normally required to earn a degree, but in no instance will exceed four years.
