The Miller Johnson Diversity Law Scholarship is an initiative by two organizations, Miller Johnson Attorneys and the Grand Rapids Community Foundation. Its main objective is to ensure that all students interested in the legal industry have the opportunity to pursue this vocation. The scholarship is open to students of color who are permanent residents of the state of Michigan.

Applicants should have been accepted into or are presently studying at an accredited law school within the U.S. Besides, they should also have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Finally, only U.S. citizens are eligible to apply.

Each year, a winner of the scholarship receives funding of $5,000. This non-renewable scholarship can be used to offset one’s education-related expenses within their school of study. A significant advantage of the scholarship is the career opportunities it opens to students, with two of its past recipients currently working as practicing attorneys at Miller Johnson.
