The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs (NANBPWC) created the Dr. Blanca Moore-Velez Woman of Substance Scholarship to support African American women who have joined university later in life. The organization encourages all African American women who fit the eligibility requirements to apply.

Annually, $1,000–$10,000 is offered to women in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in accredited universities in the United States. Applicants will be judged on academics.
