The Baccalaureate Scholarship is one of the scholarships offered by the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS) organization. The mission of WSOS is to enable Washington state students to enter and thrive in high-demand careers. This scholarship is specially designed for those students interested in working in the STEM and healthcare fields.

Applicants must not be holders of a baccalaureate’s degree at the time of their application. As such, the scholarship is open to high school seniors or graduates. Additionally, they can be either college freshmen or sophomores, but not seniors, at an eligible Washington state higher education institution.

Every year, the Baccalaureate Scholarship awards selected winners scholarships of up to $22,500. This award is spread throughout one’s undergraduate studies, which can be up to five years. Winners also join a cohort of other like-minded students who wish to excel in the fast-changing and high-demand STEM and healthcare industries.

WSOS was established in 2011

WSOS was created in 2011 by the Washington State Legislature as a public-private partnership initiative to support students in the STEM and healthcare sectors.

Other scholarships are available

WSOS also administers other scholarships that you can consider if you are not eligible for the Baccalaureate Scholarship, for example, the Graduate and Rural Jobs Initiative scholarships.
