The Rural Nurse Practitioner Scholarship grant is contributed by the Rural Illinois Medical Student Assistance Program (RIMSAP). Formed to provide doctors in rural communities in Illinois, the RIMSAP board has committed itself to this goal through recommendations to the University of Illinois and loan assistance.

After the selection process, the awarding body grants an award of $4,000 to the successful applicant who demonstrates financial need. The award is paid directly to the recipient’s educational institution offering the approved nurse practitioner curriculum.

The scholarship is granted to one successful applicant in exchange for two years of service in a rural Illinois town. The successful applicant has the option of reapplying. Reapplying allows the recipient to receive funds for more than one year. For each year of receiving the award, the recipient must serve two years.

How to ace the Rural Nurse Practitioner Scholarship

Draft a résumé with your accomplishments

When outlining your professional experiences and leadership/community involvement, emphasize your accomplishments. Remove any information that isn't relevant to the outcomes you achieved. This can make you stand out as a doer rather than a bystander.

Tell an original story

Many applicants fall into making up stories or reciting familiar stories obtained on the internet. Doing this destroys the story's original goal and does not make such applicants unique.

Begin early

Because the application procedure is usually brief, you must get started as soon as possible. Due to a lack of time, you would not want to submit a partial or incomprehensive application.

Go over your application repeatedly

You can discover errors or needless information if you go over your application several times. You can also enlist the support of friends, relatives, and professors in reviewing it. When you seek help from others, you gain a third-party perspective and improve your prospects.

How the Rural Nurse Practitioner Scholarship is Judged
