The Michigan Township Association (MTA) is an association of local governments in Michigan. MTA is focused on ensuring that future local leaders value and preserve the township governments and the residents it serves. MTA offers the Robert Robinson Scholarship to support college students aspiring for leadership roles in their local communities.

The annual scholarship program awards $1,000 to students pursuing studies in public administration at institutions in Michigan. It is open to college juniors, seniors, and college graduates. All applicants must be nominees of an MTA-member Michigan township board.

Applicants will be required to submit a recommendation letter from a professor. Applicants are to submit an essay on an important issue facing local governments. A copy of a resolution letter from the nominating board should also be attached.
