The Patricia W. Edwards Memorial Art Scholarship was started in memory of Patricia W. Edwards to support young Rhode Island students who are studying art. The scholarship is directed toward high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who wish to develop their art skills through arts programs at a Rhode Island institution. The scholarship grants up to $500 to one deserving student who exhibits dedication to their art practice.
Applicants are expected to complete an online application form where they fill in all required information and answer a series of short questions. Applicants must provide the name of the non-profit institution within Rhode Island they intend to do the art course. Applicants must complete an essay of up to 400 words that outlines why they want to take the art course given and how it will benefit them in the future.
Applicants must also include a letter of recommendation from their art teacher who will be contacted and interviewed as part of your application process. Applicants must submit two-dimensional works of art (one that is not a school assignment) and a narrative list of all works with their title, description of work, and the medium used. The winner of the scholarship will be notified directly and expected to take part in the art course suggested in their application.
