The Association of Former Intelligence Officers (AFIO) was incorporated in 1975 as a non-profit, non-political, educational association for current and former intelligence professionals and supporters of the U.S intelligence community. AFIO notes that budget limitations should not stop students from reaching their potential. AFIO thus established the scholarship program to offer financial aid to graduates majoring in national security, international relations, security policy, or intelligence studies.

The Jasin Graduate Scholarship awards three winners $5,000 each to ease educational expenses. The scholarship also targets students currently serving in the U.S government or who intend to do so in the future. Applicants who are undertaking studies focusing on national security are highly encouraged.

The AFIO selection committee undertakes the responsibility of reviewing and awarding successful applicants. The scholarship is open to college seniors and graduate students who wish to pursue further studies. The scholarship beneficiaries end up with meaningful and impactful careers and most end up working for the government and the intelligence department.
