Allina Health
The Encourage Minority Participation in Occupations with Emphasis on Rehabilitation (EMPOWER) Scholarship is administered by the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute. The scholarship is made possible through a gift from the David M. Hersey Endowment Fund of the Allina Health Foundation. The aim of the scholarship is to encourage and support ethnically diverse students to pursue a career in the medical or rehabilitation field.
Applicants have to be residents of Minnesota or Western Wisconsin enrolled or accepted in a college in the same state. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 to be considered. Candidates must be of ethnic origin such as African American, Hispanic, Alaska Tribe, or Asian to be considered.
Students must demonstrate their interest in the medical or rehabilitation field through volunteer involvement. Applicants must describe how they intend to use their education and training in the medical or rehabilitation field. Selection for the $1,500 award is based on the applicant’s intentions, past achievements, financial need, and graduation ranking.
