Undeniably Dairy
Every year, The National Dairy Promotion and Research Board (NDPRB) sponsors undergraduate students studying a course related to dairy. The NDPRB is able to award scholarships through Dairy Management Inc. (DMI), whose mission is to increase demand for U.S.-produced dairy products on behalf of America’s dairy farmers. The NDPRB Scholarship Program targets eligible students who can contribute towards the promotion of America’s dairy products.
A maximum of 11 students receive $2,500 each to fund their studies. The scholarship is open to students majoring in communications or public relations, journalism, marketing, business, economics, nutrition, food science, and agricultural education. However, fields related to production, such as animal science, are not eligible.
Successful applicants receive the disbursement through the departmental head or chairman upon enrollment for the fall semester. Eligible students may also receive the disbursement in multiple years. The NDPRB additionally awards the James H. Loper Jr. Memorial Scholarship of $3,500 to the outstanding scholarship recipient.

The NDPRB Scholarship is awarded to students who can contribute meaningfully to the promotion of America’s dairy products. By engaging in dairy-related extracurricular activities, you will have a grasp of what the dairy industry entails. Work experience in areas related to dairy will equip you with practical skills that you can build up as you complete your degree. Be sure to participate in community programs on youth wellness and supporting local food banks.

During your high school years, make sure you maintain an average GPA of 3.0 and above to improve your chances of an award.

5 Facts about Dairy Management Inc.
The DMI was established in 1995
The United Dairy Industry Association (UDIA) and the National Dairy Promotion and Research Board (NDB) board members created the DMI to be responsible for growing the market for U.S.-produced dairy products on behalf of America’s dairy farmers.
The DMI manages the nationwide Dairy Checkoff
The DMI manages a dairy promotion fund from collections from dairy farmers and dairy importers for every hundred pounds of milk or the equivalent thereof, they sell or import.
Founded the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy
The Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy is a voluntary organization advancing a shared social responsibility platform and demonstrates the dairy industry’s commitment to providing responsibly produced dairy foods.
The DMI manages the National Dairy Council
The DMI manages the National Dairy Council, which was formed in 1915. The Council was first formed by dairy farmers and processors to protect the public’s good image of dairy in light of a foot-and-mouth outbreak.
Supports worldwide promotion of America’s dairy products
In 1995, the DMI formed the U.S. Dairy Exports Council (USDEC). USDEC collects membership dues and checkoff dollars to promote U.S.-produced dairy products in international markets.
