my529, Utah’s educational savings plan, is a tax-advantaged 529 investment vehicle designed to help families save for higher education. The State of Utah founded and sponsors the Book Your Summer Scholarship program, which is a my529 initiative.

Utah high school residents 18 years old are encouraged to take part in this scholarship program. They must only register and fill out the application form. They must also have
a valid US Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number.

Four applicants will receive the scholarship, one from each of the four predetermined Utah regions indicated in Attachment A (Award Regions listed on the awarding body’s website). Each recipient will receive $1,000 in support of his/her higher education expenses through the my529 college savings scholarship account. The awarding body selects a winner at random, with a representative from the Utah State Library overseeing the process.

The library fees are covered by the scholarship

The library of each winner will receive $500 to spend on books and media for their collection. Payment will be made to the State Library, which will subsequently send the funds to the appropriate bookmobile if a bookmobile is chosen as the recipient's library.
