The Stegall Charitable Education Foundation Scholarship is designed to assist students with unmet financial needs in obtaining an education without having to worry about funding. The scholarship program is available only to Tennessee residents and for Tennessee schools.

One Stegall Charitable Educational Foundation Scholarship of $1,000 per semester (no more than two in one year) is awarded to high school students, high school graduates, or current college students who enroll in a full-time program of college study within one year of the scholarship application deadline.

Funds awarded are considered a gift to the student and are not required to be repaid, except as specified below. Funds will be awarded on a semester-by-semester basis. The instructions for the grant and the re-qualification process for subsequent semester awards will be included with each semester’s award.

Cultivate academic excellence

For first-time freshmen, a cumulative high school G.P.A. of at least 2.8 or its equivalent, to be submitted as a sealed transcript or an 18 composite A.C.T. score (or its equivalent) is required. As for college upper class and transfer students, a cumulative G.P.A. of at least 3.0 is required.

Show a need for financial assistance

Priority is given to those who demonstrate a dire need for financial assistance.

Make a contribution to your community

This is an important aspect of a Stegall Charitable Educational Foundation scholar's service. Years of volunteer service or other types of service to others are critical components of winning applications. It is not a good idea to pad your resume by unexpectedly volunteering.

Good academic standing with current college/university

Excellent academic standing at the university or college where courses will be taken; for instance, no academic suspensions will be tolerated.

How the Stegall Charitable Educational Foundation Scholarship is Judged

Scholarships will be awarded on an equal footing. The criteria for selecting such students shall be at the discretion of the Trustees, with preference given first to those individuals who have demonstrated a willingness to serve the general public through previous civic responsibilities; and secondly, to those individuals who have expressed an intention to become an attorney.

Available to Tennessee residents and Tennessee schools

The Stegall Charitable Educational Foundation is a platform for providing scholarships to only Tennessee residents and applicants to Tennessee schools.

Funds are reimbursed upon withdrawal from school

Any student, who withdraws from a class during the academic term causing the student to lose full-time status with the university, must reimburse the foundation for the tuition cost for the withdrawn class.

Scholarship offers kickstarter conditions for first-timers

The scholarship covers all fees and a stipend per semester for two to three years, allowing students to focus on their studies rather than worrying about finances.

Compulsory documentation for subsequent awards

Students, subsequently receiving the scholarship award for the second semester, must provide sufficient receipts documenting their fees, books, and materials fees before receiving payment of the scholarship award.
