MES Foundation
The Maine Educational Services (MES) Foundation offers the Richard H. Pierce Memorial Scholarship. It is a financial-need and merit-based scholarship with the goal of assisting students who might not otherwise continue their post-secondary education without financial assistance.
Scholarships are awarded on a renewable basis for up to four years depending on the student’s grade level. The students must maintain a 2.5 GPA and earn a minimum of 12 credits per semester.
Applicants must provide an essay, grade transcripts, and recommendation letters. They must also demonstrate financial need. 10 students will receive $5,000 each to complete their undergraduate studies and earn their degrees every year.

How the Richard H. Pierce Memorial Scholarship is Judged
Applications will be judged based on academic excellence demonstrated by the content of the applicant's transcript, GPA and SAT. Contributions to school, community, and/or work environment, demonstrated financial need, essay content, as well as, a strong desire to complete a degree program will also be part of the awarding criteria.

The scholarship is renewable
The scholarship can be renewed provided the recipient earns a minimum of 12 credits per semester and maintains a GPA of 2.5.
Ten awards available annually
A total of 10 scholarships will be awarded to eligible students which allows more chances of winning. This will assist recipients with school-related expenses, ease their financial burden, and help them focus on their studies.
