The North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys (NCAWA) offers the Sarah Parker Scholarship annually. The organization is a place where female lawyers in the state of Carolina gather in order to build personal and professional relationships.

One of the NCAWA members (retired Chief Justice Sarah Parker of the Supreme Court of North Carolina) made a huge impact on the state’s judicial system. To honor her and support other members of their organization, the NCAWA established the Sarah Parker Scholarship Program.

The scholarship program is available to two deserving female students to enable them to pursue a degree in law at one of the accredited law schools in North Carolina. Recipients of the award will receive $2,000 each.

Ensure that you are not a graduating third-year student

Before you apply for the scholarship, make sure that you are not in the third year of law school. The reason is that third-year law students are not eligible for the award. Ideally, you should apply during your second year in law school.

Promote women's rights and administration of justice

Join an NGO that aims to promote the rights of women and volunteer your services for free. You should also join or form a group in your school to promote the administration of justice. Through the group, teach your fellow law students how to navigate the challenges of law school and become better attorneys.

Attach a school verification to your application

Go to the admission office of your school and obtain verification. The school verification will not only show your studentship but also show that you are not a third-year graduating student. Ensure that you attach the school verification to your application before sending it.

Every year, members of the NCAWA make a tax-deductible donation through a Silent Auction, and the proceeds are deposited into the Sarah Parker Scholarship fund.
