Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship program is an initiative formed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to fund the academic studies of students studying courses related to oceanic and atmospheric science, policy, technology, research, management, and education activities.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is a scientific and regulatory agency that monitors oceanic and atmospheric conditions, forecasts weather, engages in sea charting and deep-sea exploration, conducts, and manages activities of fishing, and ensures the protection of marine mammals and endangered species in the U.S.

The scholarship attracts an award of up to $9,500 to selected applicants and that’s not the only benefit of the award. Recipients are also given “hands-on” multidisciplinary educational training to further prepare students for their intended careers.
