The Northwest Osteopathic Medical Foundation is a non-profit organization that serves people living in the Pacific Northwest (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington). Since 1986, the foundation has offered over 580 financial awards to students from the aforementioned areas.
Each year, the foundation offers the Alaska Osteopathic Medical Association Scholarship to osteopathic medical students entering their second, third, and fourth years of an American Osteopathic Association-approved college of osteopathic medicine.
The value of the financial award starts at $10,000 to help the recipients pay for school expenses, including tuition, books, and other fees.

The scholarship amount is not paid to recipients
The award amount is not paid directly to the recipient. The amount is deposited to the Office of the Bursar of the recipient's college or university and is credited for tuition, books, and other fees.
Over $1.5 million in awards
Since its inception, the Northwest Osteopathic Medical Foundation has offered over $1.5 million in awards to osteopathic medical students from the states of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.
Promoting osteopathic medicine
The foundation teaches and reinforces the principles of osteopathic medicine, as well as, supporting initiatives that benefit from the osteopathic approach to medicine.
DOs evaluate the scholarship applications
Once the foundation receives all the applications, it recruits up to 30 DOs (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine), and each physician reviews five to seven applications.
Applications are to be made in the first year
Before you can apply for the scholarship, you will have to submit your application in the first year of your undergraduate study in osteopathic medicine.
