National Society of Professional Engineers
The National Society of Professional Engineers offers the William R. Kimel, P.E., Engineering Scholarship to support young engineers and promote the industry. Each year, one undergraduate Missouri or Kansas resident student is granted the scholarship award.
The scholarship is honoring Dr. William R. Kimel. In 1978 and 1979, Dr. William R. Kimel served as the American Nuclear Society’s president. From 1969 to 1986, he served as the dean of the University of Missouri – Columbia’s College of Engineering.
The award is worth $2,500 and is awarded to a deserving undergraduate student enrolled as a junior in an ABET-accredited engineering program in a college or university in Missouri or Kansas college or university. Applicants must submit essays, transcripts, resumes, and recommendation letters.

Accepts and depends on donations
All NSPE Education Foundation scholarships must be awarded during the annual cycle in which the NSPE Education Foundation scholarship is offered.
Eligible applicants are Kansas or Missouri residents
Only those, who are currently enrolled in undergraduate studies or who intend to do so and who are legal residents of Kansas or Missouri, are eligible for the award.
Restricted to the subject of engineering
The organization manages this scholarship program of its kind for students interested in pursuing professions in engineering.
It's a one-time, non-renewable scholarship
The scholarship award will be disbursed to the recipient’s school in one installment at the beginning of the fall semester.
